Clan MacLeod is a historic Scottish Highland clan rooted in the Isle of Skye, descending from Leòd, a 13th-century Norse-Gael. The clan divides into two main branches: MacLeods of Harris and Dunvegan (Siol Tormod) and MacLeods of Lewis (Siol Torquil).

Leòd, believed to be kin to Olaf the Black, Norse King of Mann, gave rise to Tormod and Torquil, founders of the two lines. Clan MacLeod held territories including Dunvegan Castle, Harris, Lewis, Assynt, and Raasay.

Throughout the 14th to 17th centuries, Clan MacLeod played key roles in battles such as Bannockburn, Harlaw, and Bloody Bay, often clashing with Clan MacDonald. They fought in the Civil War and Jacobite risings, with some supporting the Crown and others backing the Jacobites.

In 1745, Norman MacLeod of Dunvegan raised forces for the British government, while the Raasay MacLeods joined the Jacobites at Culloden. Afterward, Norman earned the name "The Wicked Man" for his reprisals.

By the 19th century, the clan was led by Dame Flora MacLeod, and the MacLeod Society grew worldwide. The current chief, Hugh Magnus MacLeod, continues the legacy.

The MacLeod of Harris Weathered Tartan Kilt is a striking piece of Highland tradition, showcasing the rich heritage of Clan MacLeod of Harris. Crafted in a rugged palette of muted greys, earthy browns, and soft greens, this tartan reflects the natural tones of the Scottish Highlands, perfect for those seeking a classic yet understated look.
