Clan Hay traces its roots to Norman ancestry, descending from the de la Haye family of La Haye-Hue, Normandy. The Scottish branch began with William II de Haya, cup-bearer to Malcolm IV and William I of Scotland. He became the 1st Baron of Erroll, and his descendants formed the noble House of Erroll, chiefs of Clan Hay.

The Hay coat of arms—argent with three red escutcheons—matches the heraldry of their Norman ancestors, confirming lineage through David de Haya, son of William II. Strong connections to the Soulis family further cement their noble ties.

Clan Hay played a pivotal role in Scottish history, notably during the Wars of Scottish Independence. Gilbert de la Hay supported Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn (1314) and signed the Declaration of Arbroath (1320). He was rewarded with the title Constable of Scotland and lands in Aberdeenshire.

In later centuries, Clan Hay suffered losses at Flodden (1513), supported Mary, Queen of Scots, and backed the Jacobite risings of 1715 and 1745. Despite setbacks, the clan remained influential, transitioning into loyal British subjects.

The Clan Hay and Leith Scottish Tartan Kilt features a bold and elegant pattern combining deep navy, forest green, and crimson lines — a striking tribute to the alliance of Clan Hay and the historic Leith family. This unique tartan symbolizes the shared heritage and strength of two respected Scottish lineages.

Woven from premium acrylic wool, the kilt ensures comfort, durability, and authenticity in traditional Highland attire. With knife pleats at the back and adjustable leather straps, it delivers both style and a perfect fit for formal and casual Scottish occasions.
