The Logan surname originates from the Gaelic word lagan, meaning "little hollow," referring to a valley or glen. First documented in 1236 with Adam of Logan, the clan's early presence is noted in the Ragman Rolls of 1296, with several Logans pledging allegiance to Edward I of England.

Clan Logan split into Lowland and Highland branches. The Lowland Logans included the powerful Restalrig family near Edinburgh, with Sir Robert Logan marrying into royalty and later serving as Admiral of Scotland. The Ayrshire Logans held lands in Old Cumnock, with George Logan of that Ilk registering arms in 1672.

The Highland Logans are tied to Easter Ross, especially the Black Isle, with deep oral traditions linking them to ancient clan battles and place names. Today, both Logan and MacLennan clans share the same tartan, first recorded in 1831 by historian James Logan.

Clan Logan Society International, reestablished in 2002, is working to restore a Chief of Name and Arms via a formal Family Convention in Edinburgh, April 2025, supervised by the Court of the Lord Lyon.

The Logan Weathered Tartan Kilt is a classic representation of Scottish heritage, inspired by the proud lineage of Clan Logan. Featuring muted earthy tones like moss green, faded blue, and brown, this tartan offers a rustic and timeworn aesthetic perfect for those who admire authentic Highland tradition with a touch of vintage appeal.
