Clan Napier traces its lineage to the ancient Earls of Lennox, a prominent Celtic royal family in Scotland and Ireland. The surname "Napier" is believed to have originated either from the term "naperer," denoting an officer responsible for table linens in royal households, or from a commendation by King William the Lion, who, impressed by a knight's valor, declared he had "nae peer" (no equal)

The earliest documented mention of the Napier name appears in a charter from Malcolm, Earl of Lennox, dated before 1290, granting lands to John de Naper in Kilmahew, Dunbartonshire. The Napier family maintained possession of these lands for eighteen generations until 1820 .

In the 15th century, Alexander Napier, a prosperous Edinburgh merchant, acquired the lands of Merchiston in 1436. His son, Sir Alexander Napier, served as Provost of Edinburgh and was appointed Comptroller of the Royal Household and Vice Admiral of Scotland. The family's prominence continued with John Napier, the 8th Laird of Merchiston, renowned for inventing logarithms in the late 16th century .

The Napier clan's motto, "Sans Tache" (Without Stain), and their crest featuring a dexter arm holding a crescent, symbolize the family's enduring legacy and commitment to honor.

The Napier Modern Tartan Kilt is a striking representation of Highland heritage, tailored for those who value tradition blended with a contemporary touch.
