Inverness from the Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Nis actually stands for Gaelic which translates to ‘Mouth of the River Ness’ and is in the Highlands that became a city only in the year 2000. Moreover, it has the headquarters of The Highland Council and sometimes the region is referred to as the unofficial capital of the Highland.
The civil parish was earlier performing administrative functions as the center of the political division of the country Inverness-shire. Inverness lies near two important battle sites: Some of them are the fight against Norwegians in the 11th century which was set in Aird Island and the fight in the 18th century which was set in the Culloden Moor. It is actually the north eastern city and it is found in the great glen on the north eastern end at which the River Ness empties itself into the Beauly Firth. This was followed by the settlement in the latest by the 6th century with the first edging royal charter being granted by the Scottish King Dabíd mac Maíl Choluim or David I in the 12th century. Inverness and Inverness shire are related differently with impacting clans like the clan Mackintosh, the clan Fraser, and even the clan Mackenzie.
